Valerie is a Southlander with a farming background. She attended Otago University, gaining a BA in Education and a Certificate in Childrens Issues. Along with sheep farming at Isla Bank she worked as a social worker periodically for about 20 years, mainly with CYFS. From sheep farming she moved to "people farming", opening a Backpacker's Hostel in Invercargill called "Southern Comfort" which has featured among the highest rating in the country.
Valerie moved to Arrowtown seven years ago and having long had an interest in houses, renovating and landscaping decided to pursue a career in Real Estate. She has found it enjoyable and rewarding with many of her clients having become good friends.
As a way to earn a living Valerie enjoys the flexibility and autonomy that Real Estate offers while enjoying the support of the Ray White team environment. She and Cate Macdonald now work together. This arrangement ensures consistent client service and excellent sales outcomes.
Valerie's interests are in the outdoors with walking, biking, skiing and gardening. She is an avid reader having been an instigator of a local book group and enjoying a wide range of reading material.
Her interest in community issues has led her to the Committee of the Arrowtown Village Association where she is presently the Vice-Chair.
